WBB: Lady Mavs picked 9th in SBC Preseason Poll

ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington women's basketball team was picked ninth in the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Poll released Wednesday.

Arkansas State was selected as the preseason favorite and received nine first place votes, while UALR was picked second with one first place vote. In-state rival Texas State rounds out the top three.

"As far as the top three goes, it was exactly what we thought and that is who we are aiming for," UT Arlington coach Krista Gerlich said. "Other than that the preseason rankings do not hold a lot of thought with us. We have a lot to prove and a lot of new players, and that is what we are looking forward to. If anything it just gives us motivation."

Arkansas State's junior guard Aundrea Gamble was selected the league's Preseason Player of the Year. Joining Gamble on the All-SBC first team are Taylor Gault (UALR), Ashley Beverly-Kelley (Troy), Maryah Sydnor (Appalachian State) and Erin Peoples (Texas State).

The UT Arlington Lady Mavericks tip off their season on Nov. 14 vs. Missouri Valley College at College Park Center at 5 p.m. Season and individual game tickets are available at UTAMavs.com.
