ARLINGTON, Texas...Former Texas-Arlington pitcher Aaron Pullin is continuing his baseball career as he signed a minor league contract with the Anaheim Angels. He will report to Mesa, Ariz., to play for the Mesa Angels, Anaheim's Rookie League team.
Pullin, a right hander from Midland, finished the 2003 season with a record of 8-2 with a 4.23 ERA. He led the team in wins, innings pitched (106.1) and strikeouts (56). He earned his team leading eighth win in the championship game of the SLC Tournament as he pitched a complete game, allowing only two earned runs, to force the if necessary game. Just three days earlier, Pullin pitched 6.2 strong innings in a no decision against Northwestern State, helping him to be named to the All-Tournament team. For his efforts throughout the season, Pullin was selected as a second team all-SLC performer for the second consecutive year.
Pullin finished out his career with a 24-7 record and his .774 winning percentage ranks as the best in school history. Pullin also ranks fourth on the all-time wins list, third in appearances (80) and seventh in strikeouts (177).
Pullin becomes the second former Maverick to join the Angels organization, joining World Series Game 7 winner John Lackey in the organization.
