ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington Mavericks return to Clay Gould Ballpark for a midweek contest against Baylor on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
UTA enters the week at 13-17 overall and 2-1 in Western Athletic Conference play following a series victory over Tarleton State. Baylor comes to Arlington with an 18-13 record. The Mavericks will look to build on their recent momentum after capturing their first conference series of the season at home.

Xavier Melendez continues to pace the Mavericks offensively, leading the team with a .360 batting average through 29 games. The senior second baseman has collected 45 hits, seven doubles, three home runs and 23 RBIs while posting a .488 slugging percentage. Harold Laracuente is hitting .306 out of the leadoff spot with 34 hits, 10 doubles and a team-high 27 runs scored across 28 starts.
Austin Phillips adds a .281 average with 27 hits, five doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs in 26 games, while Preston Knott is batting .253 with 23 hits and nine RBIs while going 5-for-7 in stolen base attempts. Xander McAfee has contributed a .252 average with 29 hits, seven doubles, three home runs and 23 RBIs, including a three-run home run in Saturday's series-clinching win over Tarleton State.
On the mound, Caylon Dygert continues to anchor the rotation with a 2.17 ERA over eight starts, working 49.2 innings with 34 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .218 batting average. Kyle Winkler has been effective in multiple roles, posting a 1.95 ERA across 27.2 innings with three wins and 14 strikeouts. Out of the bullpen, Merek Sears holds a 2.64 ERA with two saves and 26 strikeouts in 30.2 innings, while Hayes Melville has recorded three saves with a 3.26 ERA in 15 appearances.
