BEAUMONT, Texas - Texas-Arlington could not hold to a 19-point first half, committing a season-high 31 turnovers in a 83-72 loss to Lamar in a Southland Conference game at the Montagne Center Saturday night.

Lamar (8-11, 2-5) snapped a five-game losing streak and won for the second time in 12 games. UTA (8-10, 3-4) falls to 1-9 away from Texas Hall.

UTA was led in scoring by Derrick Obasohan with 14 points. He moved into eighth place in the career scoring list with 1,097 points. Roy Johnson canned 13 points and Steven Thomas added 10. Lamar was led by Teddy Davis' 20 points. Raymond Anthony canned 19, Terrell Petteway had 16 and Gil Goodrich added 14.

Lamar rallied from a 19-point first half deficit by scoring the first seven points of the second half to tie the game at 35-35 on a Blake Whittle 3-pointer with 18:07 to play. Lamar took its first lead of the night, 51-50, on a Petteway free throw with 11:00 to play in the game.

Lamar outscored UTA 15-4 to open a 61-59 lead into a 76-63 edge after a layup by Gil Goodrich with 1:30 to play.

UTA dominated the first half but settled for a 35-28 lead at halftime. Lamar made three of its first 23 field goals attempts as UTA jumped out to a 29-10 lead after a Donny Beacham jumper with 5:25 to play in the first half.

UTA held Lamar without a field goal in the five minutes of the game to take an 11-1 lead after an Obasohan lay in with 14:50 to go in the first half.
