LAS VEGAS, Nev. - No. 74 Oklahoma spoiled The University of Texas at Arlington's men's tennis teams hopes of taking home the 2004 UNLV Invitational title with a 4-0 victory Sunday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. With the loss, UTA falls to 2-3 on the year.
David Corrie and Sandy Farquharson teamed up to win at No. 2 doubles, earning a 9-7 decision over OU's Ivanov/Long, but it wasn't enough as the Sooners claimed the one and two doubles positions to earn the team point.
The Mavericks dropped three singles matches in straight sets as Oklahoma claimed victory in the match. Farquharson fell 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3 position while Niels Buksik fell in the four hole, 6-4, 6-2. Silviu Tanasoiu defeated Ian Vazquez-Rowe, 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 5 position to close out the match. All other singles matches did not finish.
Texas-Arlington returns to the court Feb. 22 at Texas Tech for an 11 a.m. match.
