ARLINGTON, Texas - The Texas-Arlington men's tennis squad earned its second straight win of the afternoon as it defeated Cameron University, 7-0, Saturday at the UTA Tennis Center. The win evens the Mavericks record at 4-4.
Nathan McGregor and Niels Buksik paired up at No. 1 doubles to defeat Ivor Hitrec and oscar Guerra, 8-2. At No. 2 doubles it was David Corrie and Sandy Farquharson who earned the win over Alex Furlan and Gustaro Blanco, 8-3, while the tandem of Josey Trimmier and Petri van Rensburg earned an 8-2 decision at No. 3 doubles.
The Mavericks continued to dominate in singles action, earning all but one victory in straight sets. No. 32 David Corrie handed Hitrec a 6-3, 6-4 loss at the top position while McGregor defeated Furlan, 6-3, 6-2 in the two hole. At the No. 3 position, Farquharson breezed past Guerra, 6-3, 6-0. Buksik dropped Blanco, 6-1, 6-3 in the four hole while Trimmier battled for a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over Valdez at the No. 5 position. Van Rensburg dropped Zabrodiec, 6-3, 6-1 in the final spot.
UTA will return to action Friday, March 5 when it plays host to Oklahoma.
