MONROE, La. - Louisiana-Monroe canned six 3-pointer and shot 64.6-percent from the field in the second half to rally from a 14-point deficit to defeat Texas-Arlington 83-67 in a Southland Conference contest at Ewing Coliseum Thursday night.

John Andrews led La.-Monroe (10-13, 6-3) with 22 points. Mark Keith (17), Wayne Bransom (12) and Chavis Thompson (11) also scored in double figures. UTA (8-11, 3-5) was led by senior forward Derrick Obasohan career-tying-high 27 points. Senior Donny Beacham pumped in 11 and sophomore Steven Thomas added 10.

La.-Monroe, who trailed 37-35 at halftime, broke open the game in the second half with an 11-0 run to break a 43-43 tie. Andrews scored seven straight points during the run that was climaxed by a 3-pointer by RoShon Jacobs for a 54-43 with 11:24 to play.

ULM canned six 3-pointer in the second half and shot 69.6% (16-of-23) from the field and outscored UTA in the second half, 48-30.

ULM held UTA to two field goals the opening 6:12 of the second half to build a 49-43 lead with 13:53 to play after a 3-pointer by John Andrews.

UTA hit 10 of its first 13 field goals to build a 26-14 lead after an Obasohan lay up off a steal with 8:38 to play in the first half. The Mavericks hit a season-high 60 percent in the first half (13 of 20), but committed nine turnovers resulting in eight ULM points.

ULM stayed close with an 11-2 run to cut the lead to 28-23 after a Larry Parker basket off a steal with 4:45 to play in the half. The Indians held UTA to two field goals the final 4:00 of the half to cut the lead to 37-35 after a Brandon Horn 3-pointer with six seconds left in the half.

UTA hosts Southeastern Louisiana Saturday at 4 p.m.

NOTES: Obasohan moved into seventh place on the career scoring list and now has 1,124 career points... ULM's bench outscored UTA 40-11.
