ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington's seven-match winning streak came to an end Sunday afternoon as Nebraska edged past the Mavericks 4-3 at the UTA Tennis Center. The loss dropped UTA to 13-7 on the year while the Huskers improved to 9-11.
The Huskers claimed the first team point after winning the bottom two doubles positions. David Corrie and Nathan McGregor paired up for the Mavs lone victory at No. 1 doubles, dropping Justin Junck and Joel Reckewey, 8-5.
Corrie, ranked No. 40 nationally in singles play, downed Gerhard Posch 7-6, 6-3 at the top singles position. McGregor dropped a 6-4, 7-6 decision to Joerg Barthel at the No. 2 position while Sandy Farquharson dropped Jeff Nabity 61, 6-4 in the three hole. Petri van Rensburg earned the only other Maverick victory with a 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 win at No. 6 singles.
The Mavericks will return to action Saturday, April 17 when they play host to Rice at the UTA Tennis Center. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
