ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington men's tennis squad dropped its final home match Saturday as No. 12 Rice University dropped the Mavericks 7-0 at the UTA Tennis Center.

Niels Buksik and Sandy Farquharson paired up for the only Mavericks victory of the day, defeating Vuk Rajevac and Konstantin Haerie 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Seniors David Corrie and Nathan McGregor fell 8-5 to William and Richard Barker, the sixth-ranked doubles squad in the nation.

Ian Vazquez-Rowe was the only Maverick to escape a straight set defeat in singles action. Vazquez earned a 7-5 win in the first set, before falling 6-2, 1-0 (13-11) to Rodrigo Gabriel at the No. 5 position.

The Mavericks will return to action Wednesday at SMU. First serve is set for 2 p.m. in Dallas.
