JACKSON CAPTURES ATHLETE OF WEEK AWARD

PLANO, Texas - Kelley Jackson of the University of Texas at Arlington and Rosalind Holmes of the University of Texas at San Antonio have been named Southland Conference indoor track and field athletes of the week.

Jackson, a transfer from Barton County (Kan.) Community College, won the mens shot put and the 35pound weight throw to help the Mavericks to a one-point win at the Oklahoma Classic. Holmes finished second in the 200 meters at the Texas Tech meet. Following is a look at their performances.

MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Kelley Jackson, Texas-Arlington, Jr., Baltimore, Md.

Jackson recorded the school's third-best all-time indoor shot put with a 54-10.25 effort for first place at the Oklahoma Classic on Saturday. He also claimed first place in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 55-10.5 to match the school record he set in the season opener at Houston a week earlier.
