MIDLAND, Texas - - Senior Sandy Farquharson advanced to the second round of the Midland Invitational with a 6-2, 6-2 win over SMU's Dario Kuczer Friday at the Midland Tennis Racquet Club.

Farquharson teamed with partner Danile Omana for an 8-6 win over Rice's Ben Haerle and Filip Zivojinovic to stay in the winner's bracket for Saturday.

In women's play, freshman Kyra Agosova defeated Pepperdine's Eva Dicker 6-7, 6-3, 7-6. She advanced to the third round with a 6-2, 6-2 over Erika Valdez.

Monika Peciulionyte and Anete Rozalne were beaten in the opening round. In doubles, Rozkalne and Agosova were upended by the doubles team of Cigdem Duru and Samantha van der Drift of Texas Tech, 6-4.

Next up for the squad is the ITA Regionals in College Station, Texas, Oct. 21-23.
