LITTLE ROCK, ARK. - The Texas-Arlington men's tennis squad claimed victory at three of the six singles flights but it wasn't enough as the Trojans won the deciding match to edge the Mavericks 4-3 Friday afternoon.
UALR (5-0) notched the doubles point after wins at the No. 2 and 3 doubles positions. UTA's Sandy Farquharson and Niels Buksik, the 37th-ranked doubles tandem, dropped Edson Abrao and Eduardo Autran 9-7 at the top position.
Farquharson, Alberto Agis and Ian Vazquez each earned a win for the Mavs. Farquharson picked up a win at the top singles flight with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Autran while Agis battled for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Dinko Halachev at the fourth position. Vazquez claimed a straight set win over Rain Roigas in the fifth spot, 6-4, 6-1.
The Mavericks will continue action in Little Rock with an 11 a.m. match versus Illinois State on Saturday.
