LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - After dropping the doubles point, the Mavericks bounced back to claim wins at four of the six singles flights en route to a 4-3 victory over Illinois State. The win marks the first this season for the UTA men's tennis squad and improves its record to 1-3 overall.
Diego Mattar and Alberto Agis paired for the Mavericks lone doubles win, defeating Guillermo Gomez and Alfredo Lagarda, 8-2, at the No. 2 position.
Sandy Farquharson dropped Djorelgi Uskokovic, 6-2, 6-2, at the top singles flight while Mattar earned a straight set victory over Lulca Mankovic at the No. 3 position. Agis picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Lagarda at No. 4 and Ian Vazquez clinced the match with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Albon Renard at the No. 5 position.
The Mavericks will return to action Saturday, Feb. 20 against University of Pacific.
