HAMMOND, La. - The University of Texas at Arlington men's tennis squad edged past Southeastern Louisiana 4-3 Saturday afternoon in a Southland Conference match in Hammond, La. With the win the Mavericks even their season record at 3-3 and push to 2-0 in the league.

UTA claimed the doubles point after wins at the second and third flights. Alberto Agis paired with Diego Mattar for an 8-6 win at the No. 2 position while Niels Buksik and Ian Vazquez dropped Paul Brikett and Ondrej Krivka 8-5.

Sandy Farquharson earned a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Krivka at the top singles flight. Ian Vazquez claimed a straight set 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 5 position before Alberto Agis clinched the match with a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win in the four hole.

The Mavericks will return to action Sunday at Louisiana-Lafayette.
