ARLINGTON - The Texas-Arlington men's tennis squad battled with nationally ranked TCU Thursday afternoon but it was the Frogs who came out on top, dropping the Mavericks 5-2 at the UTA Tennis Center. The Mavs fall to 0-2 on the season while TCU improves to 2-0.
TCU took control early claiming the first point with a sweep of the doubles flights.
Niels Buksik dropped Radu Barbu in straight sets at the third singles flight for the Mavs first point of the afternoon.
With UTA already down 5-1, freshman Alberto Agis rallied from one set down to defeat TCU's Jordan Freitas, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 4 position.
Texas-Arlington (0-2) will return to action Feb. 11 at Arkansas-Little Rock.
