SAN MARCOS, Texas - Chris Langhorn tipped in a Josh Naylor three-point attempt with 0.8 seconds left to give Texas State a 75-72 win over UTA in Southland Conference men's basketball action in front of 3,433 at Strahan Coliseum here Saturday night.

UTA led 70-62 after a Jermaine Griffin bucket with 3:20 to play but Texas State roared back with a trapping press. Trailing 70-64 with 1:05 to play Texas State Brad Brickens was fouled by Brady Dawkins. Brickens made one of two free throws, the missed was picked up by the Bobcats and Naylor canned a three-pointer to make it 70-68. After two Steven Thomas free throws with 24.3 seconds left, Naylor canned another off-balance three-pointer to make it 72-71 with 15.7 second to go. Thomas missed a free throw with 11 seconds remaining setting up Langhorne's game-winning bucket.

UTA head coach Eddie McCarter was assessed a technical foul after the play and Naylor added two points for the final margin of victory.

Texas State (11-9, 5-4) was led in scoring by Naylor's 21 points - 15 in the second half. Zach Allison poured in 19 points and Anthony Dill added 14.

UTA (10-9, 5-4) had its three-game win streak snapped in the defeat. Jarrett Howell scored 19, Thomas had 12 and Larry Posey came off the bench for 10 points. Dawkins and Rodrick Epps had nine points each.

UTA shot 56.3 percent (27 of 48) from the field for the game. The Mavs made a season-high 11 three-point field goals

UTA came out hot to start the second half. The Mavs got five three-pointers in the opening 8:58 of the second half - three from Epps, one from Howell and Dawkins to take a 54-47 lead with 11:02 to play.

Texas State broke a 14-14 tie with an 8-0 run over a 2:32 stretch of the first half. A Dill bucket and two by Allison - all in the paint - along with a Chris Langhorne driving shot, gave TXST a 22-14 edge with 8:05 to play in the first half. UTA answered with back-to-back buckets by Posey and a Dawkins three-pointer to cut the lead to 22-21 with 5:54 left in the first half.

Jarrett Howell canned a three-pointer and was fouled by Lance Burroughs with 48 seconds to play. Howell made the rare four-point play for a 33-32 halftime lead.

UTA returns to action Wednesday when they host Texas-San Antonio at 7 p.m.
