CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - In a battle of Southland Conference unbeatens, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis team remained atop of the standings with a commanding 7-0 win over Texas-Arlington at the HEB Tennis Center.
The loss drops the Mavericks to 9-9 overall and 4-1 in league action. The Islanders won their 12th consecutive SLC match, dating back to last season, and improved their overall season mark to 18-7 and 5-0 in the league.
Alberto Agis, playing at No. 4 singles, was the lone Maverick to win a set versus the Islanders. Agis fell to Andrey Kumantsov 6-1 before rebounding to take the second set, 6-2. Kumantsov used a 10-3 win in the super tie break to down Agis.
The Mavericks return to action April 13 at Tulsa.
