ARDMORE, Okla. - The UTA men's golf team turned in their best round of the 2005 Maxwell Cup Sunday with a one-over-par 281 to vault past Colorado for ninth place in their final tune up for the NCAA West Regionals May 19-21, at Stanford, Calif.
The Mavericks finished the 54-hole tournament with an 859, 19-over-par. Oklahoma State recorded a birdie on the final hole to nip Augusta (Ga.) State 815 to 816.
Junior Tyrone Mordt had the team's best round of the tournament with a two-under-par 68 Sunday. He finished tied for ninth place with a 212 (73-71-68).
No other Mav placed in the top 40. Freshman Zack Reeves tied for 46th with a 74-76-75-225. The Southland Conference Player of the Year," Jordan Krantz, fired a final round 75 to go with Saturday's 72 and 82 for a 229.
Brendon Todd of Georgia won the tournament with a seven-under-par 203. Alex Noren of Oklahoma State had the tournament's low round, 673, to finish the runner-up with a 204.
