STANFORD, Calif. - The UTA Mavericks played its best golf of the NCAA West Regional Men's Division I Golf Tournament on the final day with a 14-over-par 294 to secure 21st place at the Stanford Golf Course here on Saturday.
"We ran into a course we had never seen and they had the rough like a PGA Championship with the roughs 5-6 inches high," said UTA head golf coach Jay Rees. "If you hit it in the rough you had no chance."
Sophomore Marc Campbell had a solid tournament with rounds of 72-73-71-216 to tie for 31st place.
Junior Tyrone Mordt struggled on the back nine of his round, the nos. 1 thru 9 holes, with a seven-over-par score to finish the day with a nine-over 79.
Senior Jordan Krantz rebounded from an 84 on Friday with a 72 in his final collegiate round Sunday. Freshman Zach Reeves had a final round 76 and Jeff Murray matched his Thursday round with a five-over 75.
