Final Stats
ARLINGTON, Texas - The Texas-Arlington volleyball team split two games on the final day of the UTA/Hilton Invitational at Texas Hall. The Mavericks downed Texas-Pan American, 19-30, 30-28, 32-30, 25-30, 15-10, but fell to Arkansas-Little Rock, 27-30, 30-27, 30-26, 30-24, in the final match.
Against Texas-Pan American, senior Ashley Van Antwerp led the way, tallying 21 kills and adding 15 digs. Sophomore Morgan Rogers registered a double-double with 10 kills and a team-high 18 digs. Sophomore Emily Nedderman dished out 40 assists to lead the Mavericks. She also had eight kills from her setter position.
Texas-Pan American (2-9) was led by middle blocker Stephanie Redd who had a match-high 28 kills and Deanna Schneyer who ripped off 21 kills. Setter Karen Lyons had a match-high 79 assists.
The Mavericks outhit the Lady Broncs with a hitting percentage of .267 compared to .246. Texas-Arlington also had 10 blocks during the match.
Against Arkansas-Little Rock, the Mavericks were again led by Van Antwerp who had 18 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore Torie Dacus had a team-high 17 digs. Nedderman dished out 37 assists, while junior Ashley Smith added nine assists. The team had a season-high 18 blocks.
Arkansas-Little Rock (6-5) was led by middle blocker Ivanka Davidova who had a game-high 26 kills, to go along with six blocks. Setters Iva Adzic and Sanda Dzile had 41 and 36 assists respectively.
The Lady Trojans outhit the Mavericks, registering a .323 hitting percentage compared to .266.
Texas-Arlington will return to action Friday when it opens up Southland Conference play with a road match versus Texas-San Antonio at 7 p.m. The Mavericks will follow up with a match at Texas State on Saturday at 7 p.m.
