AUSTIN, Texas - The UT Arlington Men's Tennis team competed in the University of Texas Fall Invitational over the weekend. Junior's Alberto Agis (Ponteverda. Spain) and Diego Mattar (La Calera, Chile) won the title in the double's consolidation bracket on Sunday at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
After being ranked last in the consolation bracket, Agis and Mattar went on to defeat Lamar's Kody Duplechan and Devin Harley 8-1 in the finals. UTA's other doubles team of Gonzalo Bienzobas (San Felipe, Chile) and Daniel Omana (Caracus, Venezuala) made it to the round of 16 before falling 9-7 to Rook Schellenberg and Miguel Reyes Varela of host school Texas.
In single's competition Mattar fought through three rounds before being shut-down 6-1, 7-5 by Matt Brown from Baylor. In the consolidation bracket Schellenberg ended Omana's (6-2, 6-2) run in the quarterfinals followed by Agis (6-2, 7-5) in the semifinals.
