While the City of Arlington waited patiently to watch their native son, gold medal Olympian Jeremy Wariner, run in the men's 200 meters, the large crowd at Maverick Stadium might have watched a future Olympian streak down the backstretch to highlight the day at the Bobby Lane Arlington Invitational.

UT Arlington junior Jared Connaughton clocked one of the fastest collegiate times this season, 20.59, to win the 200 meters. The time is the fastest time in the Southland Conference this season and was the fastest time by a collegiate runner at the meet.

Wariner, running for Adidas, has the fastest time with a time of 20.37 although only collegiate time are counted in the standings.

Forty-six NCAA Regional qualifying marks were set on Saturday including McNeese State's Michelle Rzepka who set a new stadium and meet record with a height of 3.95 meter (12-feet, 11.50-inches) in the women's pole vault.

Oklahoma's Jason Stanley, Tony Francis and Dermillo Wise all posted regional-qualifying marks in the men's 110-meter hurdles. Stanley won heat 3 with a 13.98 while Francis and Wise clocked a 14.13 and 14.29 in Heat 4.

Northwestern State's Ravyn Hayward turned in the fastest 100-meter time in the Southland Conference this season with a 10.33 to win the event. TCU's Otis McDaniel, Justyn Warner and Bradley Reed each posted region qualifying times with a 10.41, 10.42 and 10.48. McDaniel set a personal record with the 10.41 time.

TCU's Che Chaves set a personal best with an NCAA qualifying time of 47.19.

UT Arlington's trio of Crystal Thompson (57.53), Chelsea Huddleston (57.54) and Bryana Hill (57.60) set new personal marks in the women's 400 meters.

UT Arlington's Linda Rosema set a new personal record in the shot put with a mark of 44-feet, 03-inches. The throw bettered her previous best of 42-09.75 set a year ago.

Senior sprinter Ellen Garrison missed the NCAA regional qualifying mark in the women's 100 meters by .01 with an 11.76.

UTA men's and women's track and field team will compete at the 78th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, beginning Thursday.
