AUSTIN, Texas - UT Arlington men's 4x100-meter relay clocked a region-qualifying time of 40.58 seconds at the 79th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Friday afternoon.
The quartet of Coby Morrison, Adam Stafford, Byron Majors and Jared Connaughton finished second to USC (40.16) in a preliminary heat and did not qualify for Saturday's finals.
In the men's 1,500 meters, senior Jacob Cedertun just missed the region-qualifying mark of 3:47.80 with a time of 3:49.18 in a fast-paced race that saw nine runners make the qualifying mark.
In the men's long jump, junior Quinchun Carey finished 11th with a jump of 6.92 meters (22-08.50).
In the men's 110-meter hurdles preliminary heats, Jon McDowell posted the Mavs' top time with a 14.55. Adam Stafford clocked a 14.75 in heat 6 and Edward Broadnax posted a 14.98. A day earlier, Morrison (52.59) and McDowell (52.84) just missed the NCAA Regional mark in the 400-meter hurdles.
In the men's 100-meter prelims,. Connaughton finished third in his heat with a 10.58. Freshman Byron Majors clocked an 11.00.
In the women's division, senior Ellen Garrison finished third in heat 6 of the women's 100 meter prelims with an 11.84.
The women's 4x100-meter relay clocked a time of 46.46 and the 4x400-meter relay turned in a time of 3:45.96.
