SACRAMENTO, Calif. - UT Arlington junior Jared Connaughton turned in a time of 21.27 seconds in the men's 200-meter prelims and failed to advance to the semifinals on the opening day of the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Wednesday evening.

The time was the slowest of the season in the 200 meters for Connaughton, who captured the Southland Conference championship with a time of 20.90.

Senior Shay Collett failed to advance with a vault of 16-04.75 in the men's pole vaulter prelims.
