Timothy Thompson, a two-time district champion and region qualifier in the 110-meter hurdles from South Grand Prairie High School, signed a letter of intent to compete for the men's track and field program this season.
Thompson, ranked in the top in Class 5A in the 110-meter hurdles his senior season, placed fourth at the 2005 Texas Relays, has a personal-best time of 13.67 in the 110m hurdles and 37.6 in the 300-meter hurdles.
"Timothy is an gifted athlete with tremendous upside," said John Sauerhage, UT Arlington Head Track and Field Coach. "He will continue a long tradition of top hurlders at UT Arlington."
Thompson joins SGP teammate Chris Lopez who committed to the Mavericks earlier this summer.
