UT Arlington continues its longest road trip of the Southland Conference schedule when the Mavs travel to Hammond, La., to face Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday afternoon. The game time has been moved to 3 p.m. to avoid the New Orleans NFC Divisional Playoff game.

UTA has dominated the series between the two schools, winning 16 of 19 meetings. The Lions have won two of the last three meetings, both in Hammond, La.

Junior center Jermaine Griffin has been a dominate force in conference play. He scored 20 points and tied former Mav Roy Johnson for the career record with 85 blocked shots at UTA. Griffin has taken the lead role in the Mavs' offense over the last nine games. He is scoring 17.1 points during the stretch, including a dominating 22-point, 14-rebound performance against Northwestern State on Saturday at Texas Hall.

Guards Ro'ger Guignard and Brandon Long snapped out of a slump by combining for 10 3-pointers and 38 points in the Mavs' 83-81 overtime loss at Nicholls State.

THE SERIES
UT Arlington leads the series 16-3. SELU has won thee of nine meetings in Hammond, including last season's 71-62 decision on Feb. 25, 2006.

GRIFFIN LEADS NATION
Junior center Jermaine Griffin is ranked sixth nationally in field-goal percentage hitting 66.7% (94 of 141) from the field. He is tied for 40th in blocked shots with 2.4 per game.

Griffin tied Roy Johnson for the Mavs' all-time record with 85 career blocked after two blocks against Nicholls State.

KID COACH
First-year head coach Scott Cross is the third youngest coach in Division I. Indiana-Fort Wayne coach Dane Fife is 27. Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel and Cross are both 31 years old.

TEAM WORK
Scott Cross has used the team concept through the first 13 regular-season games. Three are scoring in double-figures - Jermaine Griffin (14.8) and Anthony Vereen (10.7 and Ro'ger Guignard (10.2).

Seven different players have scored double figures this season.

- Brandon Long needs 28 3-pointers to move into the Top 10 in career 3-pointers made at UT Arlington, surpassing current head coach Scott Cross. He scored double figures (17) for the first time in seven games. He has come off the bench the last three games after starting the previous five games
- Anthony Vereen has scored in double figures in 10 of the Mavs' 15 games this season. He has started all three conference games and is a perfect 14-of-14 at the foul line in SLC play
- Larry Posey recorded a career-best 11 rebounds against UT-Dallas. He is averaging 8.0 rebounds over the last four games
- Jeremy Dewalt made his first start at UC-Riverside and started at Texas Southern on Dec. 20. He recorded his first career steal and played a season-high nine minutes at UCR
- Freshman Tommy Moffitt made his first career start versus UT-Dallas on Dec. 30. He scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the his first collegiate game Nov. 11 versus Texas-Tyler.
- UT Arlington has started six different lineups in the last nine games
