ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington women's tennis swept McNeese State 7-0 on Monday at the UTA Tennis Center. With the win the Mavs improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in conference action while the Cowgirls drop to 3-3 and 0-2.
The Mavs secured the doubles point winning all three matches and then moved on to sweep all six singles points.
Daniela Novakova took the first point in the No.2 singles slot 6-1 6-0 over Vicky Martinez. Novakova improves her singles record to 5-0 on the season.
Freshman Sofya Lifanova finished off Romy Hueller 6-1 6-0 for the second singles point while as the No 1 singles Monika Peciulionyte won 6-2 6-1 over Urska Dobersek.
In the No. 3 and 6 slots senior Simri van Rooyen and sophomore Sara Pesic won 6-0 6-4 and 6-2 6-2 respectively. Senior Marissa Brown battled back from a 1-6 first set to win 7-5 11-9 for the final point of the match in the No. 5 spot.
The Mavs will continue Southland Conference action when they take on Sam Houston State on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Huntsville.
