De Soto High School point guard Jeremy Smith has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for UT Arlington recently.
Smith was named first-team all-District 8-5A after his senior season while leading the Eagles to a 34-5 record. He averaged 7.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
The 5-10, point guard, was named to the 2006 Dallas ISD Coca Cola all-tournament team and has been ranked as a high as 33rd in the state according go Tim Onkst's Texas Roundball.com and 60th according to Mike Kundstadt's TexasHoops.com recruiting services.
Smith chose UTA over Florida Atlantic, Texas State, Air Force, Stephen F. Austin, Wichita State, Northern Arizona, Liberty, Lamar, Army and Furman.
He joins the 2007 class that includes Fort Worth Dunber High School guard DeAndre Brown and Dallas Skyline forward/guard LaMarcus Reed.
