UT Arlington senior Coby Morrison added his name to the Maverick contingent headed to the NCAA Championship Wednesday.
Morrison received an at-large berth to compete in the 400-meter hurdles at the meet, beginning June 7 in Sacramento, Calif.
Morrison clocked a time of 51.92 at the NCAA Midwest Regional Track Meet in Des Moines, Iowa, on May 25. His time finished second in his heat and was the 10th fastest time in the competition.
He earned all-Southland Conference honors with a second place finish earlier this month with a 51.38. Morrison ran a season-best 51.38 in the prelims of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The time ranks 25th in Division this spring.
He joins Jon McDowell (110-meter hurdles), Jared Connaughton (200 meters) and the Mavs' 4x100-meter relay team of Connaughton, Byron Majors, Morrison and Jarid Vaughan, who qualified for the nationals with a second-place finish at the regional meet.
The Mavericks finished tied for 14th in the region with 20 points. Oklahoma won the Midwest region title with 75.33 points.
