OSAKA, Japan - Three former UT Arlington track and field standouts are competing at the 2007 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships this week.
Erika Martensson, a 2001 all-American in the 400-meter dash and Henrik Skoog, the 1999 Southland Conference 3,000-meter steeplechase champion, join Jared Connaughton, a 13-time all-Southland Conference performer in the warm up event to the 2008 Olympics.
Martensson, representing Sweden in the 400-meter hurdles, advanced to the semifinals with a time of 56.19. She failed to advance to the finals after a semi-final time of 56.46 on Tuesday.
Skoog, also represeanting Sweden, did not advance to the finals in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:51.61 in the opening round Tuesday.
Connaughton, a native of Charlottetown, Canada, will run the third leg of the Canadians 4x100-meter relay on Friday.
