SFA DROPS MAVERICKS IN THREE SETS AT TEXAS HALL

ARLINGTON, Texas - Freshman Amanda Aguilera led UT Arlington with a team-high nine kills and 14 digs in the Mavericks' three-set loss to Stephen F. Austin on Saturday afternoon at Texas Hall. The Southland Conference Eastern Division leading Ladyjacks used a 23-kill advantage while knocking off UT Arlington 25-13, 25-23, 25-19 for their third conference road win of the season.

The Mavericks drop to 6-20 overall and to 2-10 in the SLC. Stephen F. Austin improves to 17-6 overall and to 8-3 in league competition.

UT Arlington held at least one lead in every set, but Stephen F. Austin's offense prevailed with 52 kills in 124 swings (.290 hitting percentage), as freshman Mary Caitlin Bottles (17 kills) and senior Lauren Railey (15 kills, 10 digs) lead the way for SFA.

UT Arlington trailed by two points (8-10) after a kill from freshman Eld-hah Kaswatuka, before SFA went on a 15-5 run with nine kills, including three consecutive kills late in the set from Railey to give the Ladyjacks a 1-0 advantage.

Aguilera notched four kills in the opening set while junior outside hitter Teena Sobczak chipped in three kills.

The Mavericks surged out to a 10-3 lead in the second set, but then SFA charged back into the lead with a 13-5 run. UT Arlington cut the Ladyjacks lead to one, 23-24, after a block assist from Sobczak and freshman Christy Driscoll, but SFA won the set on an attack error by the Mavs.

SFA only trailed on two occasions early in the third set on its way to the three-set sweep. Freshman Alicia Shaffer was the only other Maverick with a double-figure digs total with 12. Driscoll led UT Arlington with three blocks and finished with six kills.

Sobczak notched six kills and six digs while sophomore setter Raegan Daniel led UT Arlington with 23 assists and also added seven digs.

UT Arlington will be on the road next week with matches against Sam Houston State (Nov. 7 - 7 p.m.) and Lamar (Nov. 8 - 3 p.m.) for its final regular season road matches of the season. The Mavericks will then wrap up the regular season with home matches against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Nov. 14) and UTSA (Nov. 15) at Texas Hall in Arlington.

MATCH NOTES:
UT Arlington drops to 28-24 all time against Stephen F. Austin, with a 13-7 record in matches played in Arlington... It was the Mavericks first home loss since a five-set loss against Texas State (Oct. 11).
