Results

ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center. The Trojans took two of the three doubles matches and then claimed four of the six singles matches to claim the victory.

UALR (8-5) got on the board first when they took the doubles point. The duo of Edson Abrao and Rain Roigas knocked off sophomore Dmitry Minkin and freshman David Costa 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Marko Ballok and Igor Nikitin teamed up to defeat the pair of freshmen Brieuc Hamon and Nishant Hari 8-4 at No. 2 doubles to secure the point.

The Mavericks (3-5) earned a victory at No. 3 doubles when sophomore Gonzalo Bienzobas and freshman Hugo Taracido knocked off Juan Carlos Nunez and German Perez 8-5, to remain undefeated on the season.

The Trojans struck first in singles action when Victor Wibreus won at No. 6 singles. Wibreus defeated Hari in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.

Minkin got the win at No. 1 with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Roigas, while Costa was victorious at No. 2 posting a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Abrao.

Taracido won his first set 6-3 as the No. 3 singles, but fell 6-0, 6-2 to Perez to lose the point. At the No. 4 spot, Hamon fought hard, but fell 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 to Ballock. Nunez pulled out the 6-4, 7-6 victory over Bienzobas at the No. 5 singles.

UTA will be back in action on March 2 when it travels to Las Cruces, N.M. to take on New Mexico State.
