MEN'S TENNIS FALLS IN SEMIFINALS OF SLC CHAMPIONSHIPS

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The UT Arlington men's tennis team lost 4-0 to UTSA in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament on Saturday.

The Mavericks end their season at 9-13, while the Roadrunners evened their season record at 11-11.

UTSA opened the match by winning the doubles point. Freshman David Costa and sophomore Dmitry Minkin fell to Adam Becker and Andre Moreira, 8-3 at the No. 1 spot. Robin Fernandes and Max Stratmann then clinched the point for UTSA with an 8-3 victory against Hugo Taracido and Gonzalo Bienzobas at the No. 2 slot.

In singles action, Fernandes gave the Roadrunners a 2-0 lead after defeating Taracido in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) at the No. 3 position. Nishant Hari fell to Stratmann on court six 6-3, 6-1 to put the Roadrunners up by three. Daniel Moreiras then clinched the trip to the finals for UTSA with his 7-6, 6-0 win over Bienzobas at No. 5.
