ARLINGTON - - The UT Arlington men's golf team will have to wait a little longer to open the 2008 Fall season, thanks to the threat of inclement weather along the South Carolina coast.

The Mavericks were scheduled to compete at the Rees Jones Invitational on Sunday and Monday in Hilton Head, S.C.

Officials at the course and at host university Michigan State decided early Thursday morning to cancel the event and try to schedule it for November. Weather forecasters expect Hurricane Hanna to make landfall on Saturday along the South Carolina and North Carolina coasts.

The Mavericks will open the season Sept. 29 at the St. Mary's Invitational in Pebble Beach, Calif.
