ARLINGTON, Tex. - The Southland Conference today announced their men's all-conference basketball teams and a league-high three UTA players were named all-league performers.
Leading the way for the Mavericks was senior Anthony Vereen who was named to the All-Southland Conference first team. Vereen finished the season as the second-leading scorer in the conference at 17.7 per game and ranked among the top 10 in the league in field goal percentage and rebounding.
Marquez Haynes was a second team all-conference selection. The junior averaged 15.9 points per game and led the Mavericks with 102 assists.
Roge'r Guignard was a third team pick after averaging 13.9 points per game in conference games and 12.6 overall. The junior also ranked among conference leaders in 3-point field goals and assists.
Joining Vereen on the first team was Stephen F. Austin's Matt Kinglsey, Kevin Palmer from TAMU-CC, Nicholls' Ryan Bathie and Sam Houston State's Corey Allmond.
