UTA SIGNS CAMERON CATLETT TO NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT

April 22, 2009

ARLINGTON, Tx. - UT Arlington head men's basketball coach Scott Cross announced today the program has signed guard Cameron Catlett (San Antonio, Tex./Madison HS) to a national letter of intent to begin playing for the Mavericks in the fall of 2009.

Catlett, who is 6-3, 185 pounds, will join 6-10 forward Jordan Reeves and 6-6 forward Kerry Jones, in the 2009 recruiting class.

"We are excited to add a player of Cameron's caliber and ability our program," Cross said. "He brings many different dimensions to our team and I look forward to the contributions he is going to make to our program."

He led Madison to 33-2 record as a senior and helped the Mavericks earn a No. 5 ranking in the nation this past season. He was a first team all-state Class 5A selection and the MVP of the Lone Star Invitational. During his high school career, he helped his team to a 135-20 record.

Catlett was named the MVP of the McDonalds Invitational this past season after helping lead his team to the tournament championship. His Madison team defeated nationally-ranked Duncanville to win the tournament. He was also honored as the ESPN National Player of the Week in December.

He has been ranked as one of the top players in the state by Texas Hoops and one of the upper echelon players in the nation by Hoop Scoop.

Catlett chose UT Arlington over Santa Clara, Colorado State, Utah State and Cornell among others.
