ARLINGTON, Texas - 10 Things You Should Know About UTA Volleyball

Teena Sobczak has been around volleyball long enough to know the game inside and out. Being the only senior on the Mavericks' roster she also knows her teammates inside and out as well. We asked the senior outside hitter to put down the game plan and open up about the team to enlighten fans when they travel to Texas Hall this fall.
1. WE'RE JUST A BUNCH OF SISTERS.
"We always have each others backs and we always look for each other to find things to do. We're pretty normal when we're not playing."
2. THERE ARE A LOT OF FUNNY PEOPLE BUT...
"Alicia (Shaffer) is hilarious. I don't think there's a day that goes by that she doesn't make someone laugh. Between her and Bianca (Sauls) I think by far they are the most comedic people on the team."
3. CHRISTY (DRISCOLL) IS EXTREMELY COMPETITVE IN EVERYTHING SHE DOES.
"It's just things like with classes and stuff. She's really competitive on grades or if we're doing fun competitions like in our off-season we'll do competition relays and she always wants to get first. This past week we worked a volleyball camp with our coaches and some of us we're helping coach and we were on opposite teams playing a serving game and her team lost and she was not happy about it at all."
4. ON THE BUS EVERYBODY ALWAYS BRINGS DVDS TO WATCH.
"We always have to vote on which ones, we usually watch comedies. During Halloween time we'll get scary movies and watch those even though not everybody likes them."
5. OUR COACHES, ESPECIALLY OUR HEAD COACH Diane Seymour, LOVES DAVE MATTHEWS.
"They go to every concert when they're in town."
6. EVERYBODY IS ALREADY TALKING ABOUT COMING OVER TO OUR PLACE TO EAT.
"Me or Christy are the best cooks and we're actually rooming together this next year. We both love watching Food Network and have all these recipes. I mean everybody can cook but we like to try new things like with pastas and baking and all that stuff."
7. ONE OF OUR BIGGEST GOALS IS WINNING OUR MATCHES AT HOME.
"Obviously when you win your first home match the fans are there and that keeps them coming. It always makes the team play better if you have that support system."
8. BIANCA IS REALLY REALLY GOOD AT BASKETBALL.
"She was playing basketball and volleyball all through high school. I know she'll still play basketball and go shoot hoops at the MAC during free time or in the off-season."
9. RAP ISN'T MY PERSONAL FAVORITE...
"But I don't hate it by any means. Anything that can kind of get us moving or pumped up. I think we're pretty diverse but rap is probably our favorite."
10. I KNOW OLIVE GARDEN, A LOT OF PEOPLE LIKE GOING THERE.
"For our pregame meals we usually go to Jason's Deli or Tin Cup so we don't go there after games because we get it all the time. We really like Olive Garden...actually we've gone to Gilligan's a couple of times. Buck N' Loons, Chili's, those kind of places. Actually Nizza Pizza, we love Nizza Pizza that's probably our favorite for sure."
