Arlington, Texas - Former UTA standout Jared Connaughton competed for his native Canada at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Berlin earlier this week where he made the quarterfinals of the 200 meters.
Connaughton, a native of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, appeared to qualify for the semifinals of the event with a season best time of 20.80 which was second in his heat. However, he was later disqualified for stepping out of his lane.
He was one of three Canadians in the quarterfinals of the event.
He will now focus his efforts on helping the Canadians reach the final of the 4x100 relay. The heats for that race begin Friday. Last year at the Olympics, Connaughton helped the team to a sixth place finish.
