Koenig Named SLC Athlete of the Week

Arlington, Texas - UT Arlington freshman Emily Koenig was named the Southland Conference women's cross country athlete of the week, respectively, by vote of the league's sports information directors Tuesday.
Koenig turned in a great performance at the Asics McNeese State Stampede Saturday, finishing first (20:21.21) in the 5K run. A native of Temple, Texas, Koenig has now captured three first-place finishes in the Mavericks four meets this fall.
She also guided UTA to a first place title, finishing atop LSU (63), Central Arkansas (66), Southeastern Louisiana (102), Louisiana-Lafayette (104), Northwestern State (121) and McNeese State.
Koenig is one of only three Southland runners to receive two weekly awards this season joining Lamar junior Tallum Kipruto and Northwestern State sophomore Karensa Ellis.
