Golf in fifth after day one at Cabo

Baja California Sur, Mexico - UT Arlington is in a tie for fifth after the first day of the Cabo Collegiate in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The Mavericks struggled once again in an opening round as they registered a team score of 304 which is 14 shots off the pace set by Houston.

UTA does have one player in the top 10 as Wes Worster shot a one-over 73 and he was closely followed by Paul McConnel who carded a 74 and is in a tie for 13th.

Jamey Taylor shot a 4-over 76 and is in a tie for 22nd. The Mavericks No. 1 player, Zack Fischer, shot a 9-over 81 as did Brad Lyle and they find themselves in a tie for 49th.

Enrique Livas, who is playing as an individual, shot a 4-over 76.

UC Irvine's Brian Harris shot a 4-under 68 to lead the tournament.

Round two of the tournament is scheduled for Sunday.
