Fort Worth, Texas - The UT Arlington women's basketball team dropped an 81-39 decision to the TCU Horned Frogs Wednesday in Fort Worth, Texas. UTA fell to 3-6 on the year while TCU improved to 5-4.
The Mavericks jump out to a 6-2 advantage following a Hailee Rhymes jumper at the 15:50 mark. It would be the Mavs only lead of the game as the Horned Frogs would lead the rest of the way.
Led by Helena Sverrisdottir, TCU went on a 39-5 run and headed into the locker room with a 45-11 advantage.
UTA finished the half shooting 16.1 percent (5-of-31) from the floor and were 0-of-12 from 3-point range.
The Mavs had zero players with five or more points while TCU's Sverrisdottir and Micah Garoutte poured in 16 and 12 first half points for the Frogs.
UTA's offensive game continued to struggle in the second half but the Mavericks improvised by attacking the basket and going to the free throw line. The Mavs connected on 9-of-16 from the line.
TCU continued to dominate the Mavericks, outrebounding them by a 56-37 margin and registering 28 points in the paint.
Three Horned Frogs finished in double-figures with Sverrisdottir leading all scorers with 30 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field, 5-of-7 from deep and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe.
Tamara Simmons led the Mavs with 10 points while Shalyn Martin chipped in with six and grabbed eight rebounds.
UTA finished the game shooting 21.2 percent (14-of-66) from the floor, 8.3 percent (2-of-24) from behind the arc and 56.3 (9-of-16) from the line.
UT Arlington will have 10 days off before their matchup against California on Sunday, December 19 at the Las Vegas Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, NV. Game time is set for 2:15 p.m.
