Gray and Walls Headed to NCAA Championships

May 29, 2010

Arlington, Texas - In the final day of the West Preliminary in Austin, Texas, junior Cordero Gray and senior Jasmine Walls advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 200m.

Gray will compete in his second event at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon after he clocked in a time of 20.73 in the 200m. That time was the 10th fastest and tied his personal best that he earned at the Southland Conference Championships.

Gray will also be seen running in the 100m which he qualified for yesterday with a time of 10.42.

Senior Jasmine Walls is also on her way to the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive time in her career after recording the ninth fastest time of 23.60 in the 200m.

Freshman Shannon Reynolds' time of 23.87 fell short of qualifying for the NCAA's after recording the 17th fastest time.

The 4x100 men's relay team missed the qualifying mark by two positions, recording the 14th fastest time of 40.06.

Freshman Renan Palma missed his chance to advance to the NCAA's in the 110m hurdles after recording a time of 14.40.

Gray and Walls are no strangers to the NCAA Championships as both advanced last year and earned All-American status. The NCAA Championships are set to begin June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.
