Final Stats Edinburg, Texas - Bradley Gay scored a season-high 17 points to lead four UT Arlington players in double figures as the Mavericks defeated UT Pan American 83-56 Thursday night.
UT Arlington (7-5) led the entire game after starting the contest with an 8-0 run. The Mavericks then led 42-31 at halftime as they won their third consecutive game to tie a season-high winning streak.
UTA scored the last basket in the first half and then scored the first nine points in the second half for an 11-0 run which put the Mavericks in control of the game.
The Mavericks finished the game shooting 49.2% and held UT Pan American (4-11) to just 31.8% from the field. UTA held UTPA to only 14 field goals.
"We did a good job of hitting shots all game long," UTA head coach Scott Cross said. "I thought Bradley would play well tonight and he did and he really made a lot of good shots tonight."
UTA also held a decided advantage on the boards the Mavs outrebounded the Broncs 43-25 and also outscored them 20-6 in points in the paint.
"Our rebounding was the most positive thing tonight besides the win," UTA head Cross said. "That is what we have to do to be a really good team."
Bo Ingram added 12 points for the Mavericks while LaMarcus Reed and Jorge Redmon each had 11. Jordan Reves added a team-high 11 rebounds, to go along with nine points, and Kevin Butler had 10 boards.
"Our defense was solid tonight as well," Cross added. "We were focused on that end of the court tonight and it showed."
Brandon Provost had a game-high 20 points for UTPA while Ruben Cabrera had 12 and Aaron Urbanus added 11.
