Creighton 1 at UT Arlington 2 (8 innings)
Freshman Callie Collins (4-1) once again was solid for the Mavericks on the mound. The Rusk, Texas native guided the Mavs to a 2-1 extra inning win against Creighton Saturday afternoon.

Collins finished the game pitching eight complete innings, allowing one run on six hits and striking out 12 Creighton batters. The freshman has now recorded 27 strikeouts in the tournament.

With the international rule in effect heading into the eighth inning, freshman Taylor Zink drove in the winning run for the Mavs after she ripped a double to left center, scoring pitch runner Jordan Barry. The third baseman finished the game going 1-for-2 with an RBI and a pair of walks.

The Bluejays took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning after Ellen Homan connected on an RBI single to left field.

After two scoreless innings by both teams, freshman Alexis Cantu tied the game in the fifth. Cantu connected on a single that scored Courtney Zink.

Collins dominating pitching silenced Creighton's offense in the final three innings of the game as she didn't allow a hit.

Creighton 3 at UT Arlington 2
UT Arlington didn't get much time to rest following their extra inning win over Creighton because they were right back on the field against the same team in the next game scheduled in the tournament.

The Mavericks didn't have the same outcome as in the first game, falling 3-2 to the Bluejays.

Sophomore Teri Lyles (2-4) took the loss on the mound, pitching a complete game, allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out five.

Rebecca Collom and Courtney Zink each finished with a pair of hits in the setback. Junior Charne Office also had a good offensive performance for the Mavs. Office connected on a two RBI double in the third inning to put UTA on top 2-0.

As the Mavericks headed into the top of the sixth, all looked in UTA's favor until the Bluejays plated three runs on three hits, taking a 3-2 lead.

UT Arlington was unable to produce a run in the final two frames. ¬ The Mavs will face the Ladies of Centenary tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the consolation game. Creighton takes on Tulsa in the championship game at noon.

UTA faced Centenary on Friday and recorded a 6-1 win. The Ladies have yet to win a game this season.
