COLLEGE STATION, Tex. - Romain Martin set personal-best marks in three of four events and ranks seventh after one day of the NCAA Championships.
Martin set personal-bests in the 60m with a time of 7.15, the long jump with a mark of 7.20 meters and the shot put with a throw of 13.54 meters. He finished just shy of his personal-best in the high jump, registering a jump of 2.05 meters.
With three events to go, Martin has tallied 3242 points. He is just three points shy of fifth place and one point shy of sixth.
"Romain put himself in position to score high on the final day," UTA coach John Sauerhage said. "He's really competing. Tomorrow will be very exciting."
The NCAA Championships conclude Saturday.
