AUSTIN, Tex. - Romain Martin captured the UT Arlington headlines for a second consecutive day at Texas Relays, finishing second in the decathlon.
The Mavericks sophomore earned his highest point total in the 110m hurdles, where he clocked a time of 14.51. That time was just shy of his personal best of 14.45, which he set over the weekend at the Bobby Lane Invitational.
Martin placed in the top five of three events - javelin, the 1500m and the 110m hurdles. He finished sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 4.80 meters.
A couple 4x800m relay teams also competed on Thursday.
The men, comprised of Dwight Robinson, Anthony Rene, Heinz Schwarzkopf and Anthony Hilliman, finished eighth with a time of 7:37.33.
The women's team finished seventh. Esther Abuto, Lindsey Putman, Jennifer Carey and Marissa Paz combined for a time of 8:59.22.
UTA returns to competition Friday on Day 3 of the Texas Relays.
