BOISE, Idaho - UT Arlington junior Romain Martin, a First-Team All-American in 2011, leads the heptathlon competition after day one of the Jacksons Invitational hosted by Boise State. On Friday, Martin set a personal best in the shot put (13.69 meters) and also matched his best time in the 60 meters (7.15).
In the four events on day one, Martin finished first in the shot put, long jump (7.00m) and high jump (2.03m), while taking third in the 60 meters. He has a total of 3,184 points with three events remaining.
Martin will complete the heptathlon on Saturday afternoon. In addition, UTA junior Jeff Rodriguez will compete in the pole vault.
