Arlington, Texas - UT Arlington suffered a tough loss to Central Arkansas in the College Park Center on Saturday, 53-51.
The Mavericks led for most of the game until Central Arkansas's Britney Gowans drove to the basket for a layup and the lead (52-51) with less than a minute to play.
"Megan Herbert hit some big shots and I think that relaxed them and tightened us up," UT Arlington coach Samantha Morrow said. "In the beginning we were hitting open shots and in the end we were playing not to lose."
The Mavericks headed to the locker room with their largest halftime lead of the season, 30-14.
Briana Walker finished the game with her second double-double of the season scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Kiara Parker finished the game with 10 points and five rebounds while also picking up three steals. Two of Parker's steals turned into fast break points in the first half. Senior Bianca Sauls picked up 11 points and five rebounds for the Mavericks.
The Mavericks remain home to host the Sam Houston State Bearkats Wednesday at 7 p.m. at College Park Center.
