MT: UTA fell 4-3 to the Islanders Wedensday

MANSFIELD, Texas -The UT Arlington men's tennis team lost in a 4-3 battle to the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islander in Mansfield at the Walnut Creek Country Club Wednesday.

The Mavericks fell just shy of what they hoped would be their first Southland Conference victory of the 2012 season.

The team lost the doubles points after a close 8-6 loss from senior Mindaugas Celedinas and junior Soren Goritzka.

Celedinas proved himself after defeating Peter Nagy 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot in singles play. Junior Yauheni Yakauleu played outstanding tennis as he shut out his opponent at the No. 3 spot. David Subirats also won his singles point playing at the No. 5 spot.

The men travel to New Mexico where they will have New Mexico State, Idaho and Northern Arizona Friday through Sunday.
