MOSCOW, Idaho - The UT Arlington Mavericks fell 70-52 to the Idaho Vandals on Saturday night for their sixth straight Western Athletic Conference loss of the season.

UT Arlington drops to 3-14 overall and 1-6 in WAC play.

The Mavericks debuted yet another starting lineup. including first-time starters Jordan Holub and Kelsey Willson. The two combined for 0-5 shooting in the first half.

Desherra Nwanguma led the Mavericks and scored a season-high 18 points, including shooting 6-6 from the free throw line. Laila Suleiman picked up 11 points and five rebounds, while Aron Garcia led the team with 10 rebounds.

"We outrebounded them, but Idaho hit six 3-pointers in the first half," UT Arlington coach Samantha Morrow said. "Desherra played well and we'd like to see that more often."

UTA kept the game close early in the first half, but a 21-0 run from the Vandals allowed Idaho to gain momentum. The Vandals (7-11, 4-3) reached their largest lead of the first half when Maren Austgulen hit a jump shot to give them a 21-point lead (32-11).

Idaho's Connie Ballestero led both teams with 10 points heading into the locker room, as the Vandals led the Mavericks 34-21. The Vandals nailed six 3-pointers in the first half, while also shooting 42.4 percent from the floor. UT Arlington struggled shooting 26.9 percent (7-26) from the field.

UT Arlington started slow in the second half until Kiara Parker put back her own miss. The Mavericks climbed within 10 (44-34) after a bucket from Nwanguma, but the Vandals continued to score.

The Vandals lead hit 24 with 2:21 to play in the game. Ballestero led both teams with 20 points.

The Mavericks are back at College Park Center Thursday as they take on Utah State at 7 p.m.
